Beverly Propes has over twenty-five years of experience in the public health field, health care improvement, health care management, health/wellness program design and family education.
Employment opportunities include management leadership in corporate setting, clinical proactice in hospital settings, executive leadership in non-profit and academic settings and wellness program development for culturally diverse populations. Propes, has facilitated workshops, developed/implemnted collaboative projects, forges partnerships between coproate leadership, foundations and commuity organizations, developed initiatives that fostered sharing of power, and served on editorial and joint-power boards advocating for organizational changes to improved health outcomes for under served/diverse commnities.
Propes' past/present volunteer experience includes the Minneapolis NAACP, Center for Cross Cultural Health, Associations of Black Psychologist, MN Association of Black Nurses, MN Association of Black Physicians, African American Breast Cancer Alliance and currently Board Chair fo Minneapolis Parent Information Centers' INC, and Northpoint Health and Wellness Center.
Propes, attended the University State College in Los Angeles, California and graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Nursing Science and a Masters in Public Health Administration. Propes earned her degrees at a time in history when the public heal;th nurses visted the community and educated the family household on health practices for reducing risk for hospital-based medical care. It was the time of the creation of hospital clinic services; secifically for well child-care, obstetrics and birth control. A time before managed care and advent of Family Medicine.
Propes over the years has taken the principles/practices of public health back into the commnity. She applies venues of culture as a methodology for educating diverse populations. Providing risk reduction life style practice choices for improving family wellness and eliminating health disparities. Propes designs best practice approaches for building partnerships, facilitates health education/promotion workshops and screening, and collaborates with churches, community organizations, health providers, bodly spreaduing the words of wellness and health. |
